Ferrovial Construction’s Innovation Leader, Laura Tordera, has been elected as president of the Railway Innovation Hub at the General Assembly of members, held at the headquarters in Malaga TechPark.
Appointed unanimously with more than 95% of the votes, Laura Tordera assumes the position for a period of four years with great enthusiasm and thanking the trust placed in Ferrovial and in her person by the member companies of Railway Innovation Hub; the international benchmark cluster for railway innovation and high technology that has around 80 leading member companies in the sector.
As a result, Ferrovial will continue to hold the presidency of the Railway Innovation Hub, with Laura Tordera taking over from Juan Elízaga.
“It is an honour to be elected President of Railway Innovation Hub, a challenge that I face with great enthusiasm and commitment. An exciting challenge that I face with the desire to contribute and continue to grow from the Railway Innovation Hub with the accession of new members and to continue to promote the work of our member companies, joint projects and the strategic lines of the cluster. An international benchmark cluster that I am proud to represent and that we will continue to promote as a key player in the railway innovation and high technology sector”, said Laura Tordera.
Railway Innovation Hub
The ‘Railway Innovation Hub’ cluster is the international benchmark in railway innovation and high technology, the only one of its kind in the world, with around 80 associated companies. It has a technical office located in the CTF (Railway Technology Centre) of ADIF in Malaga TechPark.
Its mission is to promote technology and knowledge in the railway sector at an international level. All this through the generation of collaborative R&D projects, the commercialisation of technology and know-how, the promotion of entrepreneurship and the provision of specialised services.
Among the initiatives currently being worked on by the Railway Innovation Hub are ImpulsoTREN 2030, GRail, Phygital Hub, Smart Train Smart, Air Andalusia, among other projects. It is worth highlighting the recent dissemination of the railway BIM classification, promoted by the Railway Innovation Hub and on which more than 25 associated companies have worked.
Likewise, the strategic lines, collaborative projects and technological challenges undertaken from ‘Railway Innovation Hub’ are presented as its pillars of activity, which make the cluster a highly successful collaborative environment for its associated companies. All of them are closely related to R&D&I and represent a highly technological and innovative sector, such as the Spanish railway sector.
