SimbioPark aims to develop digital tools to apply the concept of the circular economy to technology parks through the closure of water, material and energy cycles; to turn them into areas where the use of resources is optimised and their impact on the environment is improved.
Málaga TechPark today hosted a conference of the SimbioPark project, an initiative that the park is developing together with the Smart City Cluster, and whose objective is to develop digital tools that allow the concept of the circular economy to be applied to technology parks through the closure of water, materials and energy cycles; to convert them into areas where the use of resources is optimised and their impact on the environment is improved.
Thus, as the first step in this process, the entities located in the technology park have been analysed from the point of view of circularity and therefore the companies in the technopolis have been brought together to offer them more details of the project and its objective.
With this project, Málaga TechPark aims to promote the circular bioeconomy among companies and create closed cycles for the waste generated, taking another step towards achieving the objective set for 2027 through the eCityMálaga project, which will make the park the first urban space to implement a Circular City model of the future in a real environment that will be sustainable, eco-efficient, 100% renewable and digital.
The objectives of the project include contributing to the transition towards the circular economy through the application of the concept of industrial symbiosis.
The Simbiopark project is being developed with the support of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism through the AEI-010500-2022b-277 aid corresponding to the call for support for Innovative Business Clusters called within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. The budget for this initiative amounts to 459,283.33 euros and involves, in addition to the Smart City Cluster as coordinator, the PITA, the companies Vizzuality and Integrated Worlds, and the public company Grupo Energético Puerto Real.
