The UMA and Málaga TechPark sign a multilateral agreement with two universities and a park in Moldova

  • The Technical University of Moldova, the Moldova State University and Tracom Industrial Park will start working with the Málaga institutions to develop academic and educational cooperation and promote mutual understanding

The University of Málaga, the Technical University of Moldova (UTM), the Moldova State University (USM), Málaga TechPark and Tracom Industrial Park have signed a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of international ties, an agreement that has been promoted by the Moldovan Honorary Consulate in Málaga.

One of the objectives of the agreement is to develop academic and educational cooperation and promote mutual understanding between the parties. Another objective is to develop an “innovative, technological and R&D&I park” that brings together knowledge and expertise, in order to develop Moldova’s innovation and entrepreneurial infrastructure and ecosystem. The plan is to promote the Tracom Industrial Park from its current “industrial” status to “innovative, technological and R&D&I” status, in line with the needs of innovative residents, the evolution of the Moldovan economy towards greater value addition through digitalization, creativity and sustainability, as well as with the urban development of Chisinau.

Thus, in the academic and educational field, the parties propose the exchange of academic, research and administrative personnel; the exchange of undergraduate and graduate students; the implementation of collaborative research projects and training activities; the co-direction of doctoral theses; the establishment of joint curricula; the exchange of publications, academic material and other information and cooperative cultural projects, organization of conferences, workshops and international seminars.

On the other hand, in the area of “innovative, technological and R&D&I park”, they suggest sharing experiences in order to support Moldova’s innovative economic and technological infrastructure to endorse the overall economic development of the country and also Chisinau as a city; sharing the experience of the involvement and active participation of universities and the academic environment in the development of technology parks and exploring synergies with innovative, technological and R&D&I industries, with Tracom as a platform for the implementation of such ecosystems.

Moreover, they add strategic advice, guidance and thought leadership for the identification of challenges and the design and implementation of solutions that address shared interests, including the co-creation of market-based approaches and solutions. This also includes the presentation, strategic advice and expertise of Tracom to substantiate its institutional governance, business model and strategy development.

Lastly, they present expertise, strategic guidance, facilitation, technical and administrative support to enable the development of the Tracom park; they ensure collaborative and complementary action, including facilitation, communication and coordination between partner teams; and other resources, expertise and support mechanisms, as appropriate and as jointly determined by the partners.
