The European project AgriFood4Future, in which Málaga TechPark is involved, is leading the transformation of the agrifood sector through vocational education and training. With the introduction of the “Handbook of Best Practices in Vocational Education and Training Ecosystems in the Agrifood Sector,” the project is promoting modernization and sustainability in agriculture and food production.
The handbook, a result of collaborative efforts involving 37 experts from six European Union countries and contributions from India and Georgia, focuses on enhancing vocational education and training curricula to address the digital, decarbonization, and sustainability needs of the agrifood sector.
Based on a comprehensive analysis that includes detailed surveys, a SWOT analysis, and a TOWS analysis, the handbook identifies concrete strategies and solutions to improve education and training in smart and sustainable agriculture.
The manual highlights strategic recommendations and specific actions to address professional expertise gaps, promote technological adoption, and strengthen collaborative networks in the sector. These strategies aim to foster innovation and resilience, ensuring that the educational landscape of the agrifood sector aligns with the urgent shifts towards a more sustainable, efficient, and digitally competent agrifood ecosystem.
Reflecting the project’s alignment with European Union policy priorities such as the European Green Deal, the ‘Farm to Fork’ Strategy, and the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, the handbook offers a practical guide for stakeholders, outlining key educational and training strategies to address sector challenges and enhance its attractiveness and sustainability as a career path.
AgriFood4Future is driving sustainability in the agrifood sector through education. The “Handbook of Best Practices” serves as a valuable tool, providing a clear roadmap for aligning education with market demands and addressing the challenges of the 21st century.
