  • The TAU-RUN will take place on 26th January, 2025, starting at 10:00 A.M., and will feature two routes of 10 and 5 kilometers, respectively

Málaga TechPark will host the third edition of the TAU-RUN, the Corporate Race, on Sunday, 26th January, starting at 10:00 A.M. The event is held in support of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Málaga. All proceeds from registrations will go entirely toward funding the programs and services the association provides free of charge to cancer patients and their families.

These programs and services include psychological care, assistance from social workers, physiotherapy, speech therapy, nutrition services, transportation to hospitals, and residential accommodations for cancer patients traveling to Málaga for treatment. These services aim to provide comprehensive support, addressing both the physical and emotional needs of patients and their families.

The event is named after the Tau number, which is double the value of Pi (6.28), as it matched the distance of the race in its first edition. It was presented this Monday and is an initiative aimed at runners and sports enthusiasts from companies within Málaga TechPark, as well as those from companies outside the park, professional associations, public institutions, and other organizations.

The press conference was attended by Regional Minister of Economy, Finance, and European Funds of the Regional Government of Andalusia and President of Málaga TechPark, Carolina España; Councilor for the Area of Citizen Participation, Migration, External Action, Development Cooperation, Transparency, and Good Governance and responsible person for the Campanillas district, Mar Torres; Provincial President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Málaga, Joaquín Morales Rubio; and Director of Málaga TechPark, Felipe Romera.

Carolina España, also Spokesperson for the Regional Government of Andalusia, praised “an event that reflects the values of commitment, solidarity, and teamwork that define this Park and the companies that are part of its community.” She emphasized: “This is a charitable event that aligns perfectly with what defines our companies: teamwork, collective effort, and an example of how businesses and society can come together to make a difference.”

On behalf of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, its President in Málaga, Joaquín Morales Rubio, thanked the support from the City Council and the Regional Government of Andalusia through Málaga TechPark and  emphasized the goal the Association has set for this year. Morales stated:

“Our mission is clear: to reach more people and continue spreading our message of prevention and support. That’s why the TAU-RUN is an excellent opportunity for companies to become key allies in the fight against cancer, promoting healthy habits and preventive measures among their employees. We want to encourage everyone to participate, because together we can make a difference and move towards a 70% survival rate by 2030.”

As a new feature, this year the TAU-RUN strengthens its commitment to sustainability, becoming an event aligned with the “Málaga, cómo te quiero!” program by the City Council of Málaga. This environmental awareness program aims to provide citizens with tools to make daily decisions based on environmental criteria, promoting education for social change as a real solution to environmental issues. The organization collaborates with citizens, businesses, and associations to ensure that the event is as sustainable as possible.
