Málaga TechPark will be the location of Dekra’s new global information technology hub

This center will include the Digital Platforms and Software Development teams with global reach, both newly created, along with those already existing in Malaga TechPark.

DEKRA, one of the world’s leading companies in testing, inspection and certification, has chosen Málaga TechPark to establish a ‘Global Hub for Information Technology’. This center will include the Digital Platforms and Software Development teams with global reach, both newly created, which will start with an approximate group of 20 high-level professionals, completing a team of R&D experts of about 100 people, located in the technology park.

These new teams will be responsible for further accelerating DEKRA’s digitisation projects through the development of global Internet of Things, Data, Artificial Intelligence, Analytics and Integration platforms, as well as solutions for its clients based on them. The teams will be integrated into DEKRA’s international network of IT experts, leading the project and collaborating closely with other existing teams in the Asia-Pacific and Americas regions.

The Andalusian minister of Economy, Rogelio Velasco, has valued this initiative and highlighted that: “Innovation together with research constitute two areas of high interest for the community, since they are closely linked to business competitiveness and the development of the community ”. “They represent the basis of the economic transformation of Andalusia, so necessary now with the crisis generated by the pandemic,” he added.

Velasco added that the digital economy “constitutes a priority for the regional government” and has opted for “turning Andalusia into a benchmark in this sector”. For this end, he has placed emphasis on the lines of work that have been developed by the Andalusian Administration to promote this activity, measures that are specified in direct incentives to the business fabric, in public strategies and programs such as the General Plan of Entrepreneurship of Andalusia, next to be approved; the Digital Talent Recruitment Plan or the ‘Startup Andalucía Roadshow’ league.

The Mayor of Malaga has assured that the choice of our city for the implementation of this Global Hub of Information Technologies is a great news that consolidates DEKRA’s commitment to Malaga. De la Torre has underlined that this decision adds an important added value to Malaga’s offer as a leader in innovation and reinforces its position as a smart city ideal for investing, working and living, which has created an ecosystem linked to technology and recruitment of talent to promote digital transformation, as well as beneficial for Andalusia and Spain.

“Malaga has become a emblematic location for DEKRA since the successful acquisition of AT4 wireless in the summer of 2015. During this time DEKRA has not only developed the existing facilities in Malaga TechPark, but has also invested on a large scale in other technological fields, such as connected and autonomous driving, “Internet of Things”, cybersecurity and digitization. The investments we are currently making strengthen our corporate capabilities in information technology, greatly expanding our R&D potential and reinforcing our commitment to Andalusia, Malaga and their Technology Park. ”, says Ivo Rauh, CTO and member of the Board of Administration of DEKRA SE.

“Malaga is a smart choice for DEKRA because of its competitive market conditions, its source of local talent and its technological ecosystem, which includes very good universities, a considerable number of technology companies and a great place to live, allowing us to attract the best talent” says Sean Davidson, Director of Digital Platforms and Development Centers at DEKRA. “With information technologies increasingly integrated throughout the business, the possibility of locating in Malaga together with the already established teams of DEKRA DIGITAL and DEKRA’s” Service Division Product Testing “is also a huge incentive.”
