- The goal of this meeting is to promote the participation of professors and researchers in the different commissions of the institution
Ametic is the Association representing the digital industry sector in Spain. It´s president, Pedro Mier, presented the Association’s potential for collaboration at the University of Malaga, in an event that aimed to promote the participation of professors and researchers in the different committees of the association.
The presentation, held at the Faculty of Education Sciences, was attended by the rector of the University of Malaga, Teodomiro López, AMETIC president, Pedro Mier, and the director of the Innovation and Technological Cooperation Office (UMA innTech), Javier López, as well as over fifty professors and researchers from various centers.
The rector welcomed the top representative of AMETIC and emphasized the importance of the recent membership of the University of Malaga in the Association, which has opened up opportunities to establish important avenues of collaboration between the two entities.
AEMET, the employers’ association of the Spanish digital industry, with nearly 50 years of experience, brings together leading global companies in the technology and digital sector, as well as SMEs, public entities and technology parks, thus becoming a key player in technological innovation, which is essential to the country’s competitiveness.
The Director of the UMA innTech office contextualized the collaboration between the university and AMETIC within the activities of this new office, which was inaugurated last June as a clear reference for Technological Innovation at UMA. Its main objective is to create new opportunities and promote initiatives for innovation and technological development that involve the university community in a cross-cutting manner.
Afterwards, Pedro Mier explained how AMETIC works, that it has 21 committees for the development of its activities, and that its purpose is to analyse and highlight areas that are important for the promotion of the sector and the defence of the common interests of the associated entities. Thanks to the efforts of these teams, AMETIC can serve as a reliable interlocutor for the digital technology industry with public administration and other stakeholders.
Finally, Javier López explained the procedure for the participation of UMA professors and researchers in the different AMETIC Commissions and Working Groups. The ultimate goal is to facilitate the generation of new collaboration opportunities with a multidisciplinary approach between the University of Malaga and the business and public entities that make up the different committees.
