The Regional Delegate for Economy, Finance, European Funds, and Industry, Energy, and Mines in Málaga for the Regional Government of Andalusia, Antonio García Acedo, has been appointed President of BIC Euronova, the European Business and Innovation Centre of Málaga, located at the Andalusia Technology Park, Málaga TechPark.

Antonio García Acedo highlighted BIC Euronova’s pioneering role as an incubator for innovative companies in Málaga, stating that it “has supported the consolidation of over 540 companies in the innovation sector since its creation, generating around 6,000 specialized technology jobs.”

Founded under the European Union initiative to promote the creation and consolidation of innovative companies, BIC Euronova focuses on specialized initiatives in technologies such as augmented reality, artificial intelligence, Big Data, cybersecurity, new materials, robotics, telecommunications, circular economy, clean energy, and aerospace photovoltaics, among others. According to Director General of BIC Euronova, Álvaro Simón de Blas, the center “provides companies with advice and support to facilitate their growth and visibility,” while welcoming the new President, Antonio García Acedo.

This European Business and Innovation Centre, a pioneer in Málaga, is co-owned by the Regional Government of Andalucía (40%, through the IDEA Agency, part of TRADE), Málaga City Council (40%, through Promálaga), and Unicaja Bank (20%). García described it as “an excellent example of public-private collaboration”.

The delegate also noted that 25% of the companies currently operating in the Andalusia Technology Park originated in the BIC Euronova incubator, and currently, 20% of the incubated firms are foreign, primarily from the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden, among other countries.

With over 33 years of activity, nearly 5,000 entrepreneurial projects have benefited from BIC Euronova’s services. The center has supported the creation of over 1,000 new companies, more than 540 of which have been incubated at its facilities, with a survival rate of approximately 80%.
