Malaga Excellence Technology becomes EY Global Delivery Services, a center that will cover 25 countries and 97,600 professionals in Europe.
EY GDS Spain currently employs more than 500 professionals.

The center will complement the GDS teams in other countries.
The city of Málaga, specifically Málaga TechPark, is hosting from this week the EY GDS Spain, which will serve 25 countries and 97,600 professionals that make up the Firm’s Europe region. Since 2019, this Andalusian city has already hosted EY’s Malaga Excellence Technology (MET), an innovation center with 500 professionals that has continued to grow despite COVID-19. Now MET, a center promoted by Victor Gomez de la Cruz, COO of EY España, and Jose Luis Risco, partner responsible for talent at the Firm at national level, has become a global center. It is not an isolated center, but will complement EY’s GDS teams in other countries.
The EY GDS Spain team will be multidisciplinary, made up of highly qualified technical professionals: cybersecurity, auditing, engineering and data analysis, among others. It is expected that the workforce, currently made up of half a thousand professionals, will double next year and exceed 2,000 jobs by 2025. EY’s network of GDS centers currently comprises around 65,000 professionals.
For Federico Linares, President of EY España, “The establishment of this center in this Andalusian city is the great commitment of EY’s talent management in Europe and one of the great transformations of work that our Firm is undergoing at an international level”. And he adds, as Partner in charge of Talento para Europa Occidental (Talent for Western Europe): “If you ask me why we chose Malaga to create this Delivery Centre, there are many reasons, such as the infrastructure and connections or the quality of life. But, above all, there is the local talent, from Malaga and Andalusia, as well as the capacity to attract and retain talent from the rest of Spain, Europe and the world. Malaga is today an outstanding technological and business growth pole, which has managed to become a hub for important national and international firms”.
“It is a great satisfaction to be able to celebrate the commitment that EY continues to make to talent in Andalusia. This region aspires to be a benchmark for growth and leadership and that ambition, which we share, is reflected in the choice of Málaga to host this new global center. The Andalusian government is also doing its part, creating the right conditions to be competitive, with a favorable tax framework for investment and a simplification of the necessary procedures. But also, we want to promote the talent of our young people through dual vocational training and university education that is increasingly synchronized with the real needs of companies and the labor market. In this common endeavor, you will always have the support of the Andalusian Government and I am convinced that you will also have the guarantee provided by the talent and capacity of the Andalusian people. Thanks again to EY, to Srini Rao, to Federico Linares and to all those who have decided to trust in Andalusia for this business adventure that I am convinced will bring great success for all of us”, said Juan Manuel Moreno, President of the Andalusian Regional Government.
The Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, who took part in the inauguration ceremony telematically as he was confined after his positive with Covid, commented that “We celebrate the opening in Malaga of EY Global Delivery Services, with which the world’s leading firm in audit, tax, transaction advisory and consultancy services is ambitiously and decisively increasing its presence in the city. I am grateful for your decision to land even more strongly in Malaga and I agree with the diagnosis: we must focus on education and training at all levels so that the employment that is being generated here has as its first recipients the students who are trained in our city, so that all of them aspire to occupy these qualified jobs”
In this sense, Linares states that “It is essential that talent is created and developed because we are going to need many new professionals and, for that, we need public-private support and commitment. We must all work together to further improve the ‘educational ecosystem’ of our country at all levels”. In this sense, he asks “Malaga, the Andalusian Regional Government and the Spanish Government to continue investing in public universities, to support private universities and to make a first class dual vocational training a reality”.
Move fast…
We all know that our world is changing and that it is changing faster and faster: the pace has accelerated and this represents a real challenge for companies, which must adapt quickly. GDS teams, located in 21 cities around the world, respond to this challenge and help companies adapt to new challenges related to consulting, strategy, tax, technology, regulation and innovation.
“Malaga is a key strategic destination for competitiveness and talent attraction. We are therefore extremely proud to be able to add this center to our GDS network and expand its services beyond Spain to serve EY clients in the European region,” says Srini Rao, Global Vice President of EY GDS.
Local talent for the whole world
But will talent only come from outside or will local profiles be recruited? “The vast majority of the professionals hired by EY GDS are recruited from the labor market where the center is located. We have diverse teams as we support clients from all over the world. Our employees choose cross-border experiences and across different service lines: and this allows us to better leverage the talents of each of the profiles, multicultural teams are the basis of our success,” says Srini Rao.
“I am very excited to present EY GDS Spain in Malaga today,” explained Luis Martin, local head of EY GDS Spain, “The addition of the Málaga center of excellence and technology to EY’s global delivery network is a testament to the incredible talent, competence and opportunity we have in Malaga. This will open up new opportunities and give global exposure to our project. We are committed to supporting local employment, fostering digital talent and collaborating with our leading academic institutions. I see this as another strong endorsement of the region’s digital economy.
The GDS Malaga team will complement the teams in Poland and Hungary to serve the EMEIA countries (Europe, Middle East, India and Africa).
