A project focused on enhancing training competencies in the fuel cell and green hydrogen industry
Málaga TechPark continues to make progress in the implementation of the European project H2Excellence, which focuses on enhancing training competencies in the fuel cell and green hydrogen industry.
In terms of training, several online workshops focused on trainer development aimed at creating educational content, as well as on hydrogen storage and transmission, addressing advancements and challenges in this field have taken place in recent months . A joint transnational training programme is currently being designed in the field of fuel cells and hydrogen technologies called ‘H2Excellence European Hydrogen Academy’.
In the framework of H2Excellence, collaboration with leading organisations such as the European Association of Vocational Training Institutes, which will hold a workshop in October focusing on capacity building and present advanced technologies in the creation of vocational training courses is also being developed.
To frame all these training activities, work is currently underway on creating an e-learning platform designed with various levels and objectives. This platform will cover topics ranging from general information to more specific subjects on hydrogen, which will be selected by all project members in the coming months.
The H2Excellence project also includes an industrial advisory council to provide guidance on the hydrogen sector’s needs and requirements in terms of qualifications, educational needs, and the evolution of essential research and knowledge in the field. This group will offer advice on fostering collaboration between education, industry, and research, ensuring an educational and vocational training ecosystem aligned with the sector’s needs.
Some of the companies that are part of this council are universities, public and private institutions, clusters from the countries that are part of the project consortium, namely: Finland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland and France.
Another noteworthy activity is the preparation of a hydrogen radio-controlled car competition as part of the project. This initiative is aimed at vocational training students from any technical or industrial field. The competition will consist of two stages: a national competition followed by an international one. The registration link is as follows: Hydrogen Radio-Controlled Car Competition.
A second general meeting of the project members is scheduled for the end of November in Portalegre, Portugal, organised by the Polytechnic Institute of Portugal. This meeting will be used to review the activities carried out to date, assess the results achieved, and plan the next steps within the framework of H2Excellence.
