Málaga TechPark provides technical assistance to Konza Technopolis in Kenya

  • The park attends the conference organized by the Kenyan Government, which has brought together various government ministries, universities and businesses

As part of the upcoming 419th World Conference of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) from 24th to 27th September in Nairobi, Kenya, Málaga TechPark has provided technical assistance in a Pre-IASP Seminar on Smart Cities and Science Parks at Konza Technopolis, Kenya. During the seminar, there has been an exchange of knowledge, best internships, peer-to-peer learning, interactive workshops and discussions focused on strategic positioning, innovation management and sustainability within science parks.

During her stay in Kenia, Sonia Palomo, Director of Technology Transfer and International Relations at the TechPark, had the opportunity to meet with prominent figures from the technological and governamental spheres. Among the most highlighted meetings was a strategic meeting with the Deputy Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Economy of Kenya, John Kipchumba Tanui and the CEO of Konza Technopolis, John Paul Okwin. This discussion was focused on exploring future collaborations and exchanging internships between the two ecosystems.

Malaga TechPark was the only foreign entity invited to this 3-day Pre-Conference, due to the relationships established this past year with Kenia. In the coming months these relationships will be further consolidated because of information exchange programs and technical studies visits.

The experience gained and the contacts established at the IASP Pre-Conference have served as a preliminary step towards the upcoming world conference, which will focus on the theme “Demographics, Entrepreneurship and Technology: defining the frontiers of future economics”.

This participation reinforces Malaga TechPark´s mission to be at the forefront of developing international relationships and exchanging knowledge in science and technology while being aligned with global trends and the best internships.
