Málaga TechPark to develop a carpooling pilot project for companies in the park

  • The park, along with the Hoop Carpool mobile app, presented the proposal to more than 30 companies

Málaga TechPark presented a carpooling pilot project for the companies in the park, which will be implemented together with the Hoop Carpool app and will start in September. The meeting was attended by more than 30 companies of the technopolis.

The park, which is committed to the sustainable mobility of its companies, supports this model of commuting in order to improve the mobility experience of all workers from the park.

The project aims to provide companies with tools to reduce their carbon footprint. Furthermore, it also seeks to make it easier for workers to connect with other people who commute to work by giving them the opportunity to share a car, thus improving their quality of life, as this method makes them save time and money.

This joint initiative is aimed at creating synergies to significantly reduce pollutant emissions related to daily commutes to the park and to facilitate the access to it. The project will be officially launched from 16 to 22 September within the framework of the European Mobility Week.

As a commitment to this project, Hoop Carpool will offer a 40% off of its fares to companies in Málaga TechPark, thus helping them to join the one-year pilot project that will start in September 2023.

About carpooling

Carpooling, a car-sharing service, contributes to reducing the number of vehicles on the road, thus improving the air quality and, consequently, people’s quality of life. Moreover, it promotes sustainable mobility in the cities and in their outskirts, efficiently using available resources and lowering CO2 emissions.

Thanks to this initiative, it is expected that there is a significant emissions reduction and economic saving. It is estimated that 48,000 commutes will be avoided, resulting in a reduction of approximately 280,000 kg of CO2, thus contributing to the environment preservation and the air quality improvement. In addition, carpooling will enable people to save around €100,000, providing a tangible benefit for both the workers and the companies involved.
