The LEINN Degree of Mondragon Unibertsitatea and TeamLabs, which has been active in Málaga for two years, is one of the most innovative university degrees with the highest employability (97%)
TeamLabs, the radical learning laboratory of Mondragon Unibertsitatea, will move its headquarters to Málaga TechPark starting in September, specifically to the Promálaga Excelencia building, a property over 4,290 square meters located at 2 Steve Jobs Street. The move aims to boost the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.
With this relocation, TeamLabs solidifies its trajectory after twelve years revolutionizing education and breaking down barriers between the academic and professional realms with one of the most innovative and highly employable degrees in Europe, the Degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation (LEINN), an official title of Mondragon Unibertsitatea. This degree is based on a formula originated in Finland, Team Academy, which bases learning on practice and team entrepreneurship by creating real companies and projects from day one, while also traveling to countries in Europe, America, and Asia.
The growth it has experienced, along with its international network Mondragon Team Academy (MTA), has allowed it to build a learning community of over 3,000 entrepreneurs and more than 120 companies. TeamLabs has also expanded its educational offerings, extended its methodology, and developed transformation projects and personalized laboratories in companies, educational institutions, and public administrations.
One of the first activities this year at its new headquarters will be the open day for the LEINN official university degree (Degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation). These sessions will take place on Saturday, January 27th, at 10:30 AM, where interested young people and families will be able to firsthand learn about the program and methodology. Attendance is free, and registration can be done through the website teamlabs.es/leinn.
“The reason for TeamLabs to establish in Málaga TechPark is because LEINNers are in constant contact with companies to develop their entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship projects. This professional environment, with over 650 companies and more than 24,000 workers, will enable them to interact with professionals and businesses of various sizes in their daily activities to make their projects grow. At the same time, they can launch new business ideas, and these companies and professionals can access a pool of talent with high value in the market,” explains Sonia Borreguero, the Financial Director of TeamLabs.
In this context, last October, the young entrepreneurs from the LEINN degree at TeamLabs and Mondragon Unibertsitatea already carried out their first project at Málaga TechPark. Thus, they organized the largest tech hackathon in Europe, JunctionX, where they brought together programmers and entrepreneurs who faced various challenges posed by companies, some of them from the park itself, such as Oracle.
Two years boosting entrepreneurship and innovation among young people in Málaga
Following the agreement signed at the end of 2021 between Mondragon Unibertsitatea and the City Council of Málaga, the Official Degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation (LEINN) was officially launched in Málaga in September 2022.
With the arrival of the LEINN degree in Málaga, boasting a 97% employability rate, there has been a significant boost in attracting talent from other places, making Málaga an appealing destination for studying and entrepreneurship. Currently, 40% of the individuals enrolled in the LEINN degree are from Málaga, while the remaining 60% come from other Andalusian provinces, various parts of the country, and other locations worldwide.
In addition to the start of the LEINN degree, different activities were launched during the first year through which Mondragon Unibertsitatea and TeamLabs have impacted over 3,100 young people in Málaga. These activities include “Despierta” to awaken the entrepreneurial vocation of high school students; “Atrévete,” consisting of three collaborative activities where diverse profiles worked together to identify opportunities related to the strategic challenges of the city of Málaga; “Hackea,” enabling young individuals to get an intensive and immersive experience in digital skills, incorporating accessible technology to enhance the value proposition of their projects; and, lastly, “Acelera,” Málaga’s first pre-university accelerator. They also organized the Young Talent Festival of Málaga in February 2023 at the Congress and Exhibition Palace of the capital (FYCMA).
