- The newspaper La Opinión de Málaga distinguishes the international expansion work done in the park
The newspaper from Málaga, La Opinión, has awarded Technology Transfer and International Relations in Málaga TechPark, Sonia Palomo with an honorary award at its XIV Enterprise Awards. The Málaga-based newspaper highlights Palomo’s role in the international expansion of the technology park.
The footprint of Málaga TechPark continues to grow steadily, with the technopolis expanding its international presence year after year. Today, after more than 30 years of history, the brand of the Technology Park, located in Málaga, is represented in 211 cities across 77 countries on five continents.
Sonia Palomo’s entire professional career has been closely tied to Málaga TechPark. She holds a degree in Business and Finance from the University of Málaga and recently earned a degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the National University of Distance Education (UNED). She is fluent in four languages: Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese.
“Our goal is to strengthen the presence of Málaga TechPark and Málaga abroad through our channels and to open new pathways in order to position both the park’s companies and the province in other markets,” states Palomo regarding her work at the technology park.
Certified as an Innovation Manager by the Spanish Federation of Technology Centers, Sonia Palomo participates in numerous conferences and expert groups at the European level. “My daily life is an international maremagnum”, says the Director of Technology Transfer and International Relations at Málaga TechPark.
Palomo is one of the people responsible for forging one of the park’s most valuable strengths: a network of work in more than 200 cities. ‘We work in all continents,’ she insists. Málaga TechPark is located in up to 34 countries in Europe and, outside Europe, in locations such as Jordan, Japan, Taiwan, Qatar, Korea, Mexico, the United States, Senegal, Morocco and New Zealand.
Currently, the technopolis is involved in ten European projects: AccessCoVE, AGRIFOOD4FUTURE, atTRACTION, B-Skills, DIBEST, DiTwin, H2Excellence, MakeMyFuture, RIPEET, and Tourism 4.0. Another key strategic focus of the Technology Transfer and International Relations department is fostering business and academic exchanges.
Málaga TechPark is also an active member of several European networks, including the European Regions Research and Innovation Network (ERRIN), a well-known Brussels-based platform that brings together around 120 regional organizations from over 20 European countries.
In this context, Palomo admits that she never stops learning and growing. “It’s a curiosity I’ve always had,” she says. She studies circular economy and disruptive technologies while also conducting research in anthropology. “After all, science and technology are developed by humans, and I work with many people from different cultures,” concludes the award-winning professional.
