With its arrival, Andalusian aerospace companies will no longer need to turn to companies outside Andalusia to certify modifications to their aircraft
UK-based aircraft design and certification specialist Aerospace Engineering Solutions (AES) has today opened its Málaga headquarters, embarking on a phase of international expansion. Through this new headquarters, the company will be able to develop new partnerships with commercial, military and private aviation customers at both national and European levels. In addition, the Andalusian aeronautical sector will benefit from the company’s broad scope of Design and Approved Certification (DOA), being a DOA level 2A. AES Spain is established in Andalusia with the collaboration of the TRADE Agency, through Invest in Andalusia.
Located in Málaga’s European Business and Innovation Centre BIC Euronova in Málaga TechPark, AES Spain is the only DOA with such scope in Andalusia in the civil field. The new operation will also be integrated into Andalucía’s aerospace cluster, Andalucía Aerospace, to foster technological development, and potential project collaboration and strengthen its international presence. The Andalusian aerospace sector is made up of 140 companies with a turnover of more than 2,000 million euros and employs more than 12,000 workers.
In addition to a team of highly qualified design engineers, AES Spain has recruited engineering graduates from the University of Málaga, demonstrating its commitment to Andalusian education.
,During the inauguration, the regional delegate for Economy, Finance and European Funds and Industrial Policy and Energy in Málaga, Carlos García, praised the establishment of this new company in Málaga, which consolidates the city as a destination for foreign investment and as a new focus for the Andalusian aerospace sector.
For her part, the Councillor for the Promotion of the City and Attraction of Investment of Málaga City Council, Rosa Sánchez, emphasised that with the establishment of companies such as AES, the innovative and productive ecosystem of the city continues to grow qualitatively in strategic sectors such as technology and aerospace, consolidating Málaga’s position as a reference capital that attracts new international companies while caring for and promoting local talent.
AES Director and Head of Design, Anton Heissig, stated that ‘the launch of our new office in Málaga is testament to the support of the entire AES team, shareholders, clients and partners, which has enabled us to expand our offices internationally as part of the company’s growth strategy. We are proud to be the first DOA based in Málaga, which provides AES with a solid base in Europe and deeper integration with our continental partners. We are also delighted to welcome on board new Spanish staff and look forward to establishing partnerships within the Andalusian aerospace cluster, which we see as a valuable network to grow our presence within the European aerospace community.’
Similarly, the Director of the Málaga Design Office and Deputy Head of the Airworthiness Office, Lola Lahoz, highlighted that ‘the opening of AES Spain in Málaga will not only provide the Andalusian Aerospace Sector with independence and dynamism but will also allow AES to showcase its international maturity, innovation and growth in the fields of civil and military airworthiness. The combination of AES’s expertise in aerospace certification, together with the exponential technological development in Málaga, creates the ideal environment for AES and the aerospace market to expand into the development of new macro trends such as drone certification and collaborate with other Andalusian companies to flourish and strengthen the Andalusian aerospace sector.’
