This agreement brings to Málaga the establishment of a semiconductor innovation center, using a specialized chip technology pilot line.
The Minister of Economy, Finance, and European Funds and president of Málaga TechPark, Carolina España, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Leuven between the Junta de Andalucía, the Spanish Government, and the IMEC, which entails the establishment of a semiconductor innovation center in Málaga, using a specialized chip technology pilot line.
“In Spain and in Andalusia, today is a day of celebration. Signing this memorandum, this agreement, implies a significant step towards realizing a project in which everyone here has worked relentlessly and cared for with great affection,” stated the Minister. A project that entails the establishment of a semiconductor innovation center, using a specialized chip technology pilot line.
The Minister affirms that the opportunity to have a headquarters of the IMEC in Andalusia has been possible “thanks to the cooperation between different administrations and the drive of institutions such as Málaga TechPark, the Innova Foundation, the University of Málaga, and the City Council of the city.”
“Spain, Andalusia, and Málaga are becoming a reference in semiconductor and microchip technology, thanks to this project, which is beginning to materialize today,” and she claims that she is confident that Andalusia and Málaga are the perfect place for IMEC to continue researching and developing prototypes of this advanced technology.
“Andalusia is a serious and hardworking land that offers political, institutional, and budgetary stability, legal security, and reliance. We have an ecosystem aimed at attracting investment, technology, and development, and therefore, I don’t know of a better place to settle. And specifically, we have Málaga TechPark, a technology park with over 25 years of existence that has turned Málaga and Andalusia into the epicenter of technological development in Spain.”
